Mills-Peninsula Stroke Center offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitative programs and services to help patients improve their quality of life by reducing pain and restoring function. Mills-Peninsula is first in San Mateo County to earn accreditation as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission. Staff includes a trained stroke treatment team that provides prompt diagnosis and treatment, including the most advanced medications to dissolve clots. Experienced neurologists and other clinical experts lead the team. Mills-Peninsula provides risk assessment, as well as acute care high priority emergency services.

The Veterans Administration (VA) Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit (BIRU) provides comprehensive screening, evaluation and treatment for Veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury. Their Polytrauma Support Clinic Team provides and coordinates interdisciplinary rehabilitation services for Veterans. Any Veteran entitled to benefits (discharge from military service under other than dishonorable conditions) and medically stable is eligible for admission into the Polytrauma System of Care. The patient must have sustained multiple physical, cognitive and/or emotional injuries secondary to trauma.
